Our GPs

Dr Gerry Baptist (BSc (Hons) MBChB MRCGP)

Dr Baptist qualified as a Doctor in 1995 at Birmingham University & did GP training placements in Inverness, Glasgow and Dumfries. He is particularly interested in Diabetes Management, and Dermatology.

Rural & General Practice always appealed to him as a career and we are very lucky he came across an advertisement in a medical journal that brought him to the Aultbea and Gairloch Practice in August of 2000.

Outside of his work at the Aultbea and Gairloch Medical Practice he enjoys gardening, listening to music, and spending time with family and his dog, a Shih-poo, named Tilly.

Fun fact – Dr Baptist worked for 3 months on a dairy farm in Iceland milking cows, and he can speak conversational Icelandic.

Dr Kirsty Vickerstaff (MA(Cantab) MBChB DCH DRCOG MRCGP)

Dr Vickerstaff started her Medical Qualification in 1985 and Qualified in 1990 at Cambridge University & afterwards completed her GP training placements in Huntingdonshire.  She is particularly interested in Woman’s Health, and Chronic Pain Management.

She wanted to practice ‘whole person, whole community medicine’ so the Aultbea and Gairloch Medical Practice was a perfect fit for this.  If she did not become a GP, then she wanted to go into Psychiatry.  Luckily, for our team here at The Aultbea and Gairloch Medical Practice, she chose to become a GP joining our team here in September 2002.

Outside of her work at the Aultbea and Gairloch Medical Practice, she enjoys sewing, knitting, gardening, and Yoga.  She also keeps livestock consisting of bees and, in the past, hens.

Fun fact – Dr Vickerstaff’s favourite biscuit is Shortbread.

Dr Graham Robertson (MBChB MRCGP)

Dr Robertson qualified as a Doctor in 2012 at Aberdeen University & did his GP training placements at Stornoway, Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, Granton-on-Spey and here at the Aultbea and Gairloch Medical Practice.  He is particularly interested in musculoskeletal issues.

Dr Robertson always wanted to do remote GP work.  If he did not become a GP, he fancied Acute Medicine, or A&E.  While carrying out his training at Aultbea and Gairloch, he decided that this was the right place for him citing the lovely staff, and the community spirit.  Wester Ross worked its magic, and we were very lucky to have Dr Robertson join us as a GP Partner in 2021.

Fun fact – Dr Robertson’s favourite biscuit choice is a Hobnob, ‘chocolate or no chocolate, he isn’t fussy’.

Dr Ben Price (BMBS MRCGP)

Dr Price qualified as a Doctor in 2016 at what was formerly known as The Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry (now known as the University of Exeter Medical School and separately, Plymouth University Peninsula School of Medicine and Dentistry.)  He did his GP placements in the South West Peninsula (Cornwall, Exeter etc.).

Dr Price always wanted to do remote and rural GP work and, after having done locum shifts at the Aultbea and Gairloch Medical Practice, he decided that this was the place for him. He currently also works in A&E in Elgin.

Outside of work, he enjoys many outdoor activities, notably running, cycling, walking, and football. He also enjoys spending time with his family. He is hoping to one day add a rescue dog to the family.  He has already completed his first Great Wilderness Challenge.

Fun fact – Dr Price grew up in Singapore, Asia.
